BREAKING: Jean-Clair Todibo Set to Join Manchester United for £34.1m

Reports from France suggest that Manchester United is nearing the signing of Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo in a deal worth £34.1 million.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, is eager to strengthen the team’s defense this summer, even though the club was unsuccessful in finding a buyer for Harry Maguire.

Earlier this month, United had agreed to a £30 million offer from West Ham for Maguire, but the player declined the move to London Stadium.

Since Maguire was stripped of his club captaincy in July, he wasn’t included in the squad that traveled to face Tottenham in a 2-0 defeat last Saturday.

Initially, United had been interested in Benjamin Pavard as a replacement when it seemed likely that Maguire would join West Ham. However, with the collapse of that deal, Pavard is now set to join Inter Milan.

Due to this situation, Manchester United has shifted its focus and appears to be close to finalizing a deal with Jean-Clair Todibo for a move to Old Trafford, as reported by L’Equipe.

Todibo, a former Barcelona player at the age of 23, is currently the vice-captain of Nice and has impressed during his time in the south of France.

His combination of physicality, speed, and ability to play with the ball has caught the attention of Ten Hag.

The reported deal is valued at £34.1 million, which would take Manchester United’s spending for the summer to a total of £200 million.
