Mohammed Kudus has completed his transfer from Ajax to West Ham United.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has committed to a five-year contract with the option to extend for an additional 12 months at the Premier League club.

West Ham will be paying Ajax €41.5 million (£35.6 million) upfront, along with €3 million (£2.5 million) in potential add-ons. Additionally, Ajax will retain a 10 percent share of any future sale of the player.

Kudus will sport the No. 14 shirt at West Ham. Expressing his excitement, he said, “I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid. I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here.

But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going. I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”

Manager David Moyes also expressed his contentment, stating, “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Mohammed to West Ham United.

He’s a terrific young talent, who has already shone at the very highest level for Ajax in the Champions League and made well over 150 senior appearances at the age of 23 – so it was no surprise to see so many top clubs chasing his signature this summer.”

Kudus showcased his prowess by scoring three goals for Ajax in their 4-1 Europa League qualifier victory against Ludogorets before heading to London to undergo his medical examination.

Throughout this transfer window, the Ghana international had garnered interest from various Premier League clubs.

Reports indicated that Brighton had reached an agreement in principle with Ajax to secure his signature, and Chelsea had also engaged in discussions with Ajax about a potential deal.

West Ham had previously engaged in transfer activity with Ajax this summer, with Edson Alvarez joining the Premier League side for €40 million earlier in the month.

Adding to their midfield strength, West Ham had also secured the signing of James Ward Prowse from Southampton for a fee of £30 million.

Kudus spent three seasons in Amsterdam, amassing 16 goals in 63 Eredivisie matches. He has also netted seven goals in 24 appearances for the Ghanaian national team.

Kudus’ appeal lies in his versatility, as he can seamlessly adapt to various roles on the field due to his blend of physicality and speed.

He has played in multiple positions for Ajax, showcasing his ability to exploit weak points in the opposing team’s setup.

This exciting transfer marks a new chapter for Mohammed Kudus, as he joins the ranks of West Ham United, aiming to make his mark in the Premier League.
